Why We Hold On

We don't hold on
because the person was right.

We hold on
because we were not ready
for the story to end
that way.

We wanted the closure.
The apology.
The version where it made sense.

So we replay it.
We rewrite it.
We keep the door cracked
just in case.

But some stories
don't get a better ending.
They just end.

And your job
is not to fix the ending.
It is to start a new story
even though the last one
still hurts.
